Who We Are

Disability Action Waltham Forest is an organisation run by disabled people for disabled people.  Our goal is that disabled people in Waltham Forest should be able to live independent and active lives and be an inclusive part of their community.

We work to address the barriers which disabled people still face: attitudes, prejudices, education, communication, access, transport, employment, institutional discrimination, access to services.

The work of Disability Action is based on the rights, responsibilities and choices of disabled people from our local communities.

Our Aims

  • To advance the rights of disabled people
  • To make sure disabled people can take part in deciding policies & practices that affect their lives
  • To encourage all services to become more sensitive to the needs of disabled people from the whole community
  • To act as a resource to local groups
  • To make sure everyone can take part including black and ethnic minority disabled people, disabled women, disabled lesbians and gay men and always recognising differences of age, class and religious belief

What We Do

  • Work on Policy and Rights for the equal human and civil rights of disabled people
